Reliable, dedicated, and innovative are just a few words our customers use to describe GeoComm.

Understanding GIS for a 9-1-1 and NG9-1-1 environment can sometimes be difficult or seem overwhelming. Our goal is to help our customers understand the role GIS plays in 9-1-1 and NG9-1-1 and to find solutions that meet both industry standards and their unique jurisdiction-specific needs.

GeoComm, a Granite Partners company and headquartered in St. Cloud, Minnesota, was founded in 1995 by Tom Grones and Dan Rudningen to provide local governments with turnkey emergency 9-1-1 development services by bringing together 9-1-1 communications and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).  In the early start up days, GeoComm’s big innovation was putting the location of a 9-1-1 call on a map in the 9-1-1 call center.  This was a major innovation that infused the company when cell phones began proliferating throughout the country and the FCC mandated that those calls needed to be mapped in front of 9-1-1 call-takers.

Over the last 28 years, we have grown to serve local, regional, statewide, and military agencies in forty-nine states, helping keep more than 100 million people safe. Throughout the years, our statewide NG9-1-1 project footprint expanded to include seventeen statewide projects across the country. Through these customer partnerships GeoComm has been able to execute our company mission of helping save lives and protect property by delivering Public Safety Location Intelligence®: the right location data, on the right map, for the right people at the right time.  Our forward leading solutions include the cloud-native GeoComm Maps 9-1-1 mapping application which also displays GeoComm Indoor Maps, a new offering to provide context for locating a 9-1-1 caller inside critical buildings such as schools or government facilities. In addition, GeoComm GIS Data Hub is the 9-1-1 GIS data processing solution that powers GIS data quality and propagation into the needed systems, supports over 1,500 agencies nationwide and 17 states for managing public safety GIS data.

GeoComm was acquired by Granite Partners in 2013 as part of the retirement plans for the founders Tom and Janet Grones. Granite Partners is a private investment and holding company founded in 2002 in St. Cloud, Minnesota, with a mission to grow companies and create value for all stakeholders.  With the support and leadership from Granite Partners and the GeoComm team, GeoComm experienced tremendous growth in the last 10 years.
