This summer, Polk County, Florida implemented GeoComm Dispatch Map throughout their Emergency Communication Center to bring their mapping and GIS data together. In addition to GeoComm Dispatch Map, Polk County implemented GeoComm GIS Data Hub and GeoComm Maintainer. These GIS data management applications are utilized by GIS professionals throughout the county to ensure accurate Public Safety Grade GIS data is achieved and utilized within GeoComm Dispatch Map to aid in providing more accurate and faster emergency response.
GeoComm is excited to announce being selected by Lake County, Florida for a GIS project aimed at preparing their GIS data for the mission critical role it will play in future NG9-1-1 systems.
We are excited to announce our partnership with the Pennsylvania Northern Tier Consortium, a group of ten counties serving a population of over 650,000 people, and the North Central Region, a group of eleven Pennsylvania counties serving over 180,000 people. This work will expand on the statewide NG9-1-1 GIS Data GAP Analysis project GeoComm completed in late 2019 with the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA).

Z-axis and Indoor Maps, the Intersection of Location for Public Safety
Indoor maps and location accuracy are important parts of the public safety ecosystem as we expand the need for information to assist first responders in understanding where they are. The major cellular carriers are now providing not only X and Y location information, but also Z-axis data. The Z-axis information provided on the DataStream comes into the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) as a Height Above Ellipsoid (HAE) or Uncompensated Barometric Pressure (UBP). Unfortunately, this information coming in is content without context. Understanding the relationship of what the HAE is, and the translation from height above terrain or floor in an indoor map will be explored.
Vertical Location Services
Convert raw position measurements for cell phones into building, floor, and room level 9-1-1 dispatchable locations with GeoComm Vertical Location Services.
In order to improve situational awareness and reduce response times, emergency responders need more detailed information about the facilities to which they are responding. An address point on a map with no additional structure information provides little location context to call takers and first responders. Indoor maps are the next level of precise location information.
